It’s because he’s thinking about The Berks Jazz Fest’s annual holiday concert — A Peter White Christmas featuring Peter White, Rick Braun & Euge Groove set for Sunday, December 4, 2016. NOVEMBER 4: The Reading Pops presents The Legend of Zelda
DATE: Friday, November 4

The triforce has been completed with the highly-anticipated, global concert tour of “The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses.” The acclaimed concert will be performed with the Reading Pops Orchestra and will regale fans with a truly unique experience from one of the most beloved game franchises ever. Audiences can expect to experience awesome new inclusions from “Tri Force Heroes,” the most recently released The Legend of Zelda game. Never-before-performed scores accompanied by new gameplay imagery, will appear for the first time ever in “Master Quest,” though fans will still be treated to the show’s now-classic repertoire from seasons past. FRIDAY - SUNDAY: IX International Celebration of Imaginative Realism

The 9th annual IX International Celebration of Imaginative Realism brings ninety juried imaginative realist artists from around the world to GoggleWorks to exhibit over 1,000 original works of art. IX is the world’s largest groundbreaking art show, symposium, and celebration dedicated solely to imaginative realism – cutting edge contemporary realist painting and sculpture. Event highlights include film screenings in the GoggleWorks theater, lectures, talks, live artist demonstrations, workshops and more. Visit the IX website to purchase tickets!

The event also includes the IX Showcase held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Reading where 130 artists will be exhibiting their works. The Showcase is Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22 from 8 p.m. to MIDNIGHT throughout the hotel’s 27,000 square foot exhibition space. The public is invited to attend the Showcase free of charge.
FRIDAY: Opening Reception - ' Til Death Do Us Art 2016

Studio B is proud to announce the opening of ‘Til Death Do Us Art 2016, its second exhibit featuring “art partners for life.” Susan Biebuyck, gallery director for Studio B, met with enthusiasm and interest from artists following the gallery’s 2015 unique exhibit ‘Til Death Do Us Art that featured fine art created by 8 couples who lived together as husbands and wives or in committed relationships in the hills of Oley. Free and open to the public.

FRIDAY: The David Trio presented by Friends of Chamber Music Reading

The David Trio comes from Italy, having won recognition throughout the world for chamber music. They have traveled extensively in Europe, and Reading is their first stop on their American Tour. Free and open to the public.

FRIDAY: Ragamala Dance Company presents They Rose at Dawn

A full-evening solo performed by classical Bharatanatyam Indian dancer Aparna Ramaswamy, accompanied by a stellar Carnatic ensemble of musicians, which examines women as carries of ritual. Navigating inner and outer worlds, women are the primordial source of all creation; the compassionate mother; the lover, exuberant and erotic; the embodiment of power and strength. Includes a post-performance Q&A from the stage with Ms. Ramaswamy and the musicians. Tickets $27 Adult, $15 Student, $22 Member.

SATURDAY: Serenade to Music - Choral settings of Shakespeare texts

Vox Philia will be celebrating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death with beautiful choral settings of his texts by Vaughan Williams, Chilcott, Harris, and Mantyjarvi. Interspersed between the music will be passages from his sonnets and plays, read by local actors and members of the RHS Poetry Out Loud program. Free-will offering ($10 suggested donation). GRAMMY award-winner Rosanne Cash, one of the country's pre-eminent singer/songwriters, is truly the hardest-working woman in music. Her credits include 15 albums, four GRAMMY awards and 11 nominations, over 20 top-forty hit singles, 11 of which reached Number 1, and the recent prestigious honor of being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Cash, with long-time collaborator and husband John Leventhal, brings an exciting show which celebrates her highly-acclaimed and three-time Grammy-winning album, The River and the Thread. Tickets $38.

The documentary film The Winding Stream - The Carters, The Cashes, and the Course of Country Music will be shown at 5:45 p.m. in the Schaeffer Little Theatre.

The Reading Symphony Orchestra and guest artists from the Baltimore Choral Arts Society present an evening of choral works by the masters. The program will include the premiere of Dark Bells by composer Jonathan Leshnoff, Brahms' three-movement Schicksalslied, and Vaughan Williams' wordless Flos Campi, together with violist Peter Minkler. Also on the program is Brahms' Tragic Symphony.

DEADLINE NOVEMBER 1! Scenes of the Schuylkill River Heritage Area Juried Show & Sale
The show will be held from November 9 - December 9, with submission date November 1 from 12 noon - 7 p.m. Benefits the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, and will be held at Montgomery County Community College, Pottstown. Prospectus/application with more details is available here.
The Schuylkill River Heritage Area invites artists to submit original art work or photography that celebrates the beauty and character of the Schuylkill River Region.

CALL FOR VISUAL ARTISTS & WRITERS: Muse - An Art Exhibit & Book Release

Studio B's 4th annual exhibit combining literary and visual art focuses on inspirations. Studio B's 4th book of prose and poetry will be released during the opening receiption for the exhibition on on February 17, 2017. Visual art will also be included in the book.

Artists' Challenge for 2017
Who inspired you? Another artist? A style or medium? A place or season? A favorite art teacher, friend or family member? Honor your muse somehow in 1 - 2 pieces of your work.

Writers' Challenge for 2017
For writers, inpiration often comes from words they have heard or read. In poems or essays or short narratives, dialogues or monologues, share the words that shaped your thinking or behavior at some point in your life. Enter 1-2 pieces of your work to be considered for inclusion into the book of prose and poetry.
